2024 "Soichiro Noh Play" has been decided to be held!
Experience the world of Noh from various perspectives through "playing" with Noh.
At Yuuhisai Koudoukan, we have been continuously exploring attempts to "play" Noh from various angles under the concept of "Noh Asobi."
At "Koudoukan", an educational institution that gathered 3,000 students from all over the country during the Edo period, Hayashi Soichiro, the 14th generation of the Kyoto Kanze Hayashi family which has continued since the Edo period, will dissect Noh theater from all angles and convey new interpretations. We hope to anticipate and create the future of Noh theater together with all the attendees.
"Playing" is also a kind of experiment.
While learning from the rich "knowledge" of the Edo period, we will "play" Noh theater unique to an educational institution.
For example, what would happen if we were to unfold what is always done on the Noh stage in a tatami room?
Are there any "new forms" to the established performance styles?
A new page in the history of Noh theater may be opened.
You can enjoy sweets related to the theme of the tea service and the performance.
We look forward to your participation!

Dokugin "Genji Kuyo Kuse", Su-utai "Aoi no Ue"
Su-utai is a performance format of Noh without dance or music, only chanting. During the Edo period, "Noh" was not something that everyone could watch. Instead, "Su-utai" was widely enjoyed as something that could be appreciated. It is said that in those days in Kyoto, you could hear Su-utai chants somewhere every day. Let's experience the "enjoyment" of the Edo period.
